The first time you “fail” it will blow you completely off track and it seems like a reflection of who you are as a human. Leaving you feeling like you should just quit and thoughts like “I am just not cut out for this”. Or “I will never make it on my own” continue to creep in.”
This list of self-doubting thoughts could go on for a long time. There is no question of IF you will run into feelings of doubt or fear it is WHEN we will have them but we don’t have to live with them.
Making progress in life does not happen in the times that feel like you are running downhill with the wind in your hair and the sun at your back.
It comes from you getting back up even when you don’t feel like it and taking the next step when the wind is fighting you all the way.
Recognize The Bad Emotions
When you have those feelings that cause you to not want to keep moving. You need to look at why those feelings are coming up. Are you wishing you had the life of someone on Instagram? Does their life seem easier than yours? Do they seem to be growing faster than you?
Their kid is way more behaved than yours. Their dog doesn’t shed and they don’t have to deal with all of the junk that you do…
It is so easy to slip into comparison and feel like you are at a disadvantage. Once you start skinking into that then you have already lost.
Find out what is it that is causing those hurt feelings or feelings of jealousy and figure out what you can do to change them.
Know Your Why For Motivation To Keep Going
Why are you doing that thing? It doesn’t matter if you are making the desition to quit your job and stay home with your kids. Or building a side hustle. What is your why?
What motivates you to do what you are doing? Is it a better life for your family? Is it flexibility in life to do more of what you love? Do you want a safety net for your family? Do you want your husband to be able to come home or work the job he wants to?
Whatever it is. Keep it top of mind and use them to drive you forward. It will be hard and there are some days you won’t feel like doing that task you set out to do. There are days when I question my sanity. But I know if I keep going life will be amazing when I reach the target.
You can hold to that as well.
Flip The Script In Your Mind
Almost everything you want to succeed at has to do with your mindset. Your mind can give you the support and motivation to keep going or slow you down from making progress.
When you feel jealousy creep in about something someone else has or is doing. Ask yourself if you really want what they have and what it took them to get it.
Do you really want to miss out on family time to speak at that event? Do you really want to have 250k people waiting for you to post or also be there to make a judgment against you and what you do?
Find Your Motivation To Keep Going
There are so many ways you can find motivation to keep going in life or in your business. You have to try different things and see what works for you.
- If you are feeling tired and you want to give up then go outside for a walk.
- Taking a nap is ok to… Recognize when you may not have gotten as much sleep as you should. Sometimes you just have to take the time to rest.
- If you are feeling discouraged about traffic then have a look at the time of year. I bet you are a lot farther along then you think.
- If you are jealous of the things someone else has. Stop and take time to journal about the things you have and are grateful for.
Progress Not Perfection
This saying had its moments of fame for a time but it is still true. We should be steadily working towards progress not getting things perfect. Because you know what? We are not perfect! I know I just rocked your world right? Just kidding…
Trying to be perfect is striving for the impossible. Progress is getting back up and trying again.
