Setting goals and having dreams of a better life is what we are as humans wired to do. We need to have something to work towards.
Even the Bible says that if we don’t have a vision we will perish. (paraphrasing of course)
It’s not a vision in the

Goals Without Deadlines
When it comes to big goals and dreams I think we need to go after them with reckless abandon and NOT set a deadline to them. Here is why.
There is so much that can happen in just a few weeks. Let alone doing something that will take you months or years to do. Your timeline will change and you might have to put things on hold. When it takes longer than you thought it could cause unnecessary stress and make a huge difference in your overall success.
When you are going after something so big you don’t have to reach all of them this year nor should you try.
Chose your top two or three and start laying out a timeline.
Big Dreams To Actionable Steps
After you have brainstormed all of the dreams you would like to see happen take a step back and ask yourself which ones do you want to do the most and are not super far out of reach?
Start with the ones that are a little closer in reach. This will keep your momentum up and cause you to feel the courage to keep going.

Break Them Down
For each goal you want to work on this year you need to break them down into very actionable steps. The more detailed the better.
Let’s use reading one book a month as an example goal.
Look at how many chapters are in the book and decide how many chapters you need to read per week.
Then how many pages in each chapter? Set a number of pages per day.

See how detailed you need to get. Down to the letter so to speak. Get so detailed there is no question of what needs to happen. If you need more help with breaking down tasks and projects read this post.
You might have grown up with the mindset that you can’t have everything you want and in some cases, I would say that’s true. But I also think that people are not taught to chase their dreams and work hard to reach them. You have to be willing to try again and again until it you find the way to get it done.
You can work to build a life you love and that will take time. If something does not work the first time don’t give up on the dream just change the tactic.
