“I want to get a flocked Christmas tree” my husband said out of nowhere. YES! I was jumping with excitement inside because I really thought my husband wouldn’t like having a flocked tree.

But HE brought it up!

So last year we kind of pittled a little bit looking for one but this year my husband is adamite that we are getting one this year and as I am writing this post I am waiting on my brother to come and pick up the tree we have used for the past 5 years.

It was a regular tree with multi-colored lights. 😨

So I thought I would take you on my flocked Christmas tree shopping adventure.

I would love a tree that is 7 feet tall with white lights BUT green wire. As far as the tree type we want it to be somewhat wide and not too skinny.

I will say that I find it very aggravating that it is so hard to find an artificial tree without lights. The core reason is that lights are bound to go out at some point and you would have to leave the tree unplugged and add lights yourself. Which I am willing to bank on the fact that they are hoping you will just buy a new one.

But I have added white string lights to our tree for 5 years and you never noticed until you got right up on the tree that the lights were not even on.

What is a Flocked Christmas Tree?

So what is a flocked Christmas tree exactly? Well, a flocked Christmas tree is an artificial evergreen tree with synthetic white powder that gives the tree the look of freshly fallen snow. While you can “flock” a Christmas tree yourself, it’s generally a safer idea to purchase a professionally flocked tree to prevent any disasters!

Flocked Christmas trees have been popular since the 1800s, as everyone is always dreaming of a “White Christmas” and frosted branches are the best way to get it! The trend caught on during the mid-century in America, and films of the era ensured that flocked trees had their place in American Christmas culture.

What size Christmas tree should I get?

There is no absolute, perfect size when it comes to Christmas trees. The right size depends on a few factors like your home’s ceiling height and personal preferences.

If you are planning on using a tree topper, subtract 12-16-inches from your ceiling height. If you do not want a tree topper, then subtract 6-inches from your ceiling height. Typically, ceiling heights are 8-feet or so, which means a 7- to 7.5-foot flocked tree would be perfect.

If you prefer smaller trees or just want a few mini ones to compliment your own tree, then there are many smaller options available as well.
