Knowing if a task is worth your time is not as simple as it might sound.
I don’t know about you but I hate the feeling of wasting my time or not feeling like I am seeing the results I want to. In biz tech terms if the ROI (return on investment) for my time is not worth the results I am getting, its time for a change.
Sometimes there are things that just have to be done. Other times there are things that need to be removed off of our plate because it’s really not worth our effort.
Many people are always saying to hire it out or outsource it. That’s all well and good but what about those who don’t have the cash to do so?
If you don’t have the cash to hire it out then you have to decide if the task is worth doing or if you are able to stop doing the task altogether and it will not affect your bottom line.
Your Desired End Result
Before we decide if something is or is not worth our time we have to know what the goal or end result is. What do you want to see happen to know that the task was worth your effort? Is it to see more site traffic or to gain more leads? Those are two very different end results. What about growing your following your email subscribers?
Knowing your end result will help you chose your next steps before you jump trying to accomplish something that really won’t give you the results you want.
Before you move on to the next thing also think about what that would mean for your family or personal life. Building a business as a whole takes sacrifice. Think about what you want to be doing 5 to 10 years from now. Do you want to be working one on one with people or would you rather create courses or products that can be done whenever you can fit it in? Make sure that end result is something you actually want.
If we are building something we really don’t want and have to start over somewhere else that is a huge amount of time and effort wasted.

Why Do You Desire That End Result
Ask yourself why are you working so hard to get that end result? What will it do for you, will it bring you more income. Will you have more time to do the things you want to? What do you think will change for the better?
It can be easy to want something we see others doing and it looks cool but it really doesn’t serve our end goals.
A bullet journal is a great way to start planning out your goals without the constraints of a planner.
Your Long-Term Goal
How does that end result fit into your long-term goal? Does it really take you to that life you really what to live? If you can’t see yourself doing the task down the road. Then is it a stepping stone to where you want to go? If not then it is probably not worth the investment of your time.
See this post on planning ahead.
Why Are You Questioning If It Is Worth Your Time
There is a reason you are starting to question a task you are doing for your business. It is probably because you are not seeing the results you want or thought would happen. What exactly are the results you were hoping for and why do you think your result should be different. Is it because you saw someone else results on the same platform and you feel like you should be at the same level? Comparing our situation to theirs is a really dangerous road to be on and should be pushed aside as soon as it creeps up.
How Much Time Have You Given The Task
Sometimes we want to see results right away or we really don’t know how long it took that person to get the results they have. Be careful you are not jumping from one thing to the next hoping for results that are not realistic in the time frame you thought they would be done.
Have You Tried Different Ways Of Doing The Task
It can be very easy to feel that if we imitate those who have already had success and we will have it too. There is no one right way to build a business, grow a following, or start bringing in money. What worked for you might not work for someone else.
Try new things, it could be something as simple as switching a few words around in your sales page or maybe you are trying to attract an audience that really is not right for what you are trying to do. Try a few different options before scrapping the whole thing.
What Is A Better Use Of Your Time
So you have decided to get rid of that tasks. What will you be doing with that time? Will you be creating more content? Researching new platforms. Finding a new income stream.
Whatever you decide to do make sure you are using your time to get the most benefit for you personally or your business. Don’t waste the time on random tasks that are not helping you move forward.
